About urban university

Founded in 1998, urban university (uu) is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that delivers workforce training, coaching and retention solutions in partnership with individuals, community based organizations and the business sector. We promote social change by concentrating our efforts on the enhancement of today's workforce.   With a ten year proven track record, we create and deliver workforce development learning and coaching services designed to help individuals and organizations reach workplace success by bringing out the best in people.

Our Approach

The success behind our ten year track record is based on doing what we do best - training and coaching. It is our theory that within today's knowledge era, success no longer depends on technical know-how alone, individuals must also posses workplace knowledge and soft skills that promote self-efficacy, positive work relations, quality work and job retention. By working with individuals and organization on real issues, we are able to make enduring change.

We accomplish our mission by:

  • Delivering relevant training and coaching services to individuals seeking to improve their socio-economic status - focusing on workplace readiness, coping and retention;
  • Collaborating with organizations to deliver workforce development programs that provide viable employment and career opportunities for low-income individuals;
  • Providing leadership training to supervisors in order to promote a more participatory and vibrant workforce.
